1960 Mercedes Benz 180D

1960 Mercedes Benz 180DHere a quick video of my 1960 Mercedes-Benz 180Db diesel sedan. This was the entry level Mercedes back in the day and was a stripped down model with very little chrome, etc and even has no radio. The body is very dated for the time and Mercedes wouldnt catch up style wise until 1968. They ran these from 1954-1962 and the diesels were their bread and butter for many years and established them as a quality leader here. Studebaker was the original sole importer for them at first until they went out of buisness. I had a $500.00 Maaco paint job done to it last year in the original color. Ive had this car since 1983 and finally finished it last year. It gets 40MPG, is 43HP, has 4spd on the column plus reverse, and has a top speed of 70MPH. These were big as taxis in Europe back in the day for their economy and reliability and were built like tanks they were so solid. This has over 500000 Km on it. Thermo-King used these engines from 1962-1980 in their diesel truck/trailer refrigeration units exclusively and they were also used in sailboats, generators, Lantz tractors, and also some forklifts. The bodies would rust apart around the engines they lasted so long. And yes its supposed to sound like a Mack truck.
