Introduction to the Single Tank Vegetable Oil Fuel Conversion on Old Mercedes Diesels

Introduction to the Single Tank Vegetable Oil Fuel Conversion on Old Mercedes Dieselswww.mercedessource.com - Mercedes diesel engines produced from the 1950s up to the late 1990's are well suited to run on straight vegetable oil (SVO). In fact most models built up into the early 1990's are so well suited that they are one of the few passenger car diesel engines that can be reliably operated on a single fuel tank conversion. That means the vegetable oil goes in the factory tank with no need for a back-up diesel fuel tank. High quality waste vegetable oil (WVO) can be collected (mostly free!) from restaurants, settled, stored, filtered and poured right into the fuel tank. Kent will explain how he operates his own 300TD wagon on this system and the steps he has to take when the weather gets cold. This applies to all Mercedes 190D, 200D, 220D, 240D, 300D, 300CD, 300TD, 300SD, 300SDL, 350SD, 350SDL, and 300D 2.5. by Kent Bergsma

All-new 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class revealed

All-new 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class revealedMercedes-Benz has officially released photos and details on the upcoming 2012 CLS-Class which will make its debut at the Paris motor show in October. In these official photos we now get to see the design of the 2012 CLS-Class in its entirety. The flared wheel arches along with the broad shoulder lines and a flattened nose give the CLS a far more muscular look than its sleeker predecessor. New technology on the CLS-Class includes the LED headlamps, which feature a total of 71 individual lights. The lights are split into three sections, with the upper set forming the turn indicator, the middle serving as a low beam side light which also works when the high beams are on. There are the headlights themselves which do the night lighting. Inside is an interior finish done with some human touches. The wrap-around dash goes from door to door and holds the instrument panel and display screen. There are also matte galvanized vents and an analogue clock. The handcraft is featured in the stitched seat covers as well as in the dashboard and Mercedes-Benz has gone through the trouble of preshrinking the leather it uses on the CLS so it won't tighten up in the heat. High-gloss wood panels are also embedded inside the cabin - on the dash, center console and door linings. Buyers have a choice of brown burl walnut or black ash. What Mercedes-Benz hasn't yet announced is which power plants will make it under the bonnet of the CLS. But we can expect the usual suspects - a 250 CDI with 204 PS ...

2011 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG

2011 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMGThe Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG, featuring a powerful 375 kW (510 hp) AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine, unveils its updated exterior takes on a more attractive appearance thanks to some subtle but effective changes. From the front, the eye is immediately drawn to the new bonnet with power domes, and the darkened bi-xenon headlamps with active light function. The rear, meanwhile, also contributes appropriately to the new look: the performance SUV now features darkened tail lamps incorporating a clear-lens design and LED technology. The subtle changes to the exterior coordinate perfectly with the high-gloss, chromed front and rear underguard, and afford the Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG an even more powerful and distinctive appearance. Powerful and torque-laden AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine Still boasting a power output of 375 kW (510 hp) at 6800/rpm as well as 630 Nm of torque, the Mercedes ML 63 AMG is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, and achieves a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). At the renowned International Engine of the Year Awards in 2009, the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine took the top places in both the "Best Performance Engine" and "Above 4 litres" categories. As before, power transfer is taken care of via the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission with three drive modes. The permanent all-wheel drive is decidedly sporty: the power is split asymmetrically 40:60 between the front and rear wheels to provide optimum agility. The AMG sports ...
